Petrofac welcomes Repsol Sinopec delegation for immersive survival session
Petrofac Training Services last week welcomed a delegation from Repsol Sinopec to two of its training sites in Aberdeen.
The group took part in a lifeboat freefall drop at Petrofac’s Marine Training Centre, before travelling to its Altens Training Centre for a tour of the facility and a sea survival session.
The trip was organised as part of Repsol Sinopec’s engagement programme and was designed to give the delegation insight into the areas where their people train, as well as provide them with an idea of what happens during survival training.
Survival and Marine Instructor, Jamie Openshaw, who hosted the visit, said: “The group was really interested to hear about all the different types of training we offer. They even had the opportunity to put on the survival gear and try some training exercises for themselves, such as water entry, sea survival techniques and being winched from the pool.”
He added: “We received some great feedback as the delegates were grateful for the opportunity to witness what goes on behind the scenes at a training facility. The entire group was extremely engaged and I was really pleased to see how seriously they took their own safety, as well as the safety of everyone around them.”
